Marilyn Wilson is a seasoned executive with proven strengths in marketing, research, product development, strategic planning and business development. She brings years of experience launching highly successful new businesses, products and services.
After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Agricultural Marketing, Marilyn started her career at Delaware North Corporation, doing menu planning, marketing and merchandising programs for one of the largest foodservice contractors in the world. After leaving there, she became marketing manager for Mentholatum Co., a provider of natural treatments for children’s colds. While there she launched several new products and marketing programs and gained a strong knowledge of the food, drug and health food industry.
Her passion in developing high quality products for children continued as she transitioned to Fisher-Price toys. Marilyn was VP Strategic Planning and Worldwide Marketing.
While there she launched over 1000 new products and three new divisions, including RESCUE HEROES. Rescue Heroes was designed to provide parents and kids with an alternative to violent action figures. Rescue Heroes are “cool guys that are good guys”. They are firefighters, police officers, mountain rangers, scuba divers, doctors etc. They work together to help solve natural disasters instead of fighting with each other with nasty guns and weapons. Studies have shown that kids display more collaborative behavior after playing with the toys. This highly successful brand has created an alternative to action figures that is acceptable to both children and parents.
Marilyn also launched a highly successful eCommerce and Direct Mail business using her in-depth knowledge of direct marketing.
While at Fisher-Price Marilyn uncovered several opportunities to use technologies to teach and delight families and children. She headed up a joint venture with Microsoft and launched a highly successful product called Intellitable.
Next she became CEO of Surveyor Corporation. While there she launched the first ever web-based remote monitoring system for families called See My Baby. She transitioned the company from a “think tank” to a viable commercial organization, commercializing several products for both the consumer and business to business marketplaces.
Marilyn now works with natural food companies, technology companies and toy companies helping launch high quality products for children.
